History

Bridget Duffy was born in 1836 at Adelaide, Australia within the Catholic faith. She arrived in Australia in 1856 on board the Aberlra. She was described as a married woman who was imprisoned in 1861/1862 for one month for stealing ducks at Her Majesty's Gaol Ballarat. She was five feet two inches tall, stout with a fresh complexion, blue eyes and brown hair, and could not read or write.[1]
