This includes operators “engaged in: creating, enhancing and storing information products in media that allows for their dissemination; transmitting information products using analogue and digital signals (via electronic, wireless, optical and other means); and providing transmission services and/or operating the infrastructure to enable the transmission and storage of information and information products.” (Trewin and Pink, 2006, p. 281)

Operators involved in Information Media and Telecommunications will have one or a combination of the following activities as the primary activity of their operations:


Publishing (except Internet and Music Publishing)

Operators involved in Publishing (except Internet and Music Publishing) will have one or a combination of the following activities as the primary activity of their operations: newspaper publishing; magazine and other periodical publishing; book publishing; directory and mailing list publishing; other publishing (except software, music and internet); and/or software publishing.


Motion Picture and Sound Recording Activities

Operators involved in Motion Picture and Sound Recording Activities will have one or a combination of the following activities as the primary activity of their operations: motion picture and video activities; and/or sound recording and music publishing.


Broadcasting (except Internet)

Operators involved in Broadcasting (except Internet) will have one or a combination of the following activities as the primary activity of their operations: radio broadcasting; and/or television broadcasting.

Telecommunications Services


Internet Service Providers, Web Search Portals and Data Processing Services

Operators involved in Internet Service Providers, Web Search Portals and Data Processing Services will have one or a combination of the following activities as the primary activity of their operations: Internet service providers and web search portals; and/or data processing, web hosting and electronic information storage services.


Library and Other Information Services

Operators involved in Library and Other Information Services will have one or a combination of the following activities as the primary activity of their operations: library and archives; and/or other information services (e.g. historical societies).
