John Amos Colley was born 4 January 1839 in Dudley (Worcester, England) to Thomas Colley (c1799-?) and Sarah nee Amos (c1797-?).


John Amos Colley worked as an iron moulder at the Phoenix Foundry in 1881.


John Amos Colley died 1920 in Victoria (Australia). He is buried in the Ballaarat Old Cemetery (Area H, Section 3, Row 2, Grave 32).
