World War Two

Notes

Another of many promising young airman has failed to return to the base. he is Sergeant Robert Tasman Pound, son of Dr J.R. Pound. On Saturday official information was received that he had been reported mission as the result of air operations. Yesterday came the official information that Pound lost his life on 13th October. It is presumed that at the time he as engaged in an operational flight over Europe. Cut down in his 25th year, Sgt Pound was of bright and happy disposition and there are many friends outside the family circle who will regret that his name has been added to the list of those who will not return. He had seen two years service. He was an ex-student of Ballarat High School, and at the time of enlistment was employed on the staff of the Commonwealth Bank.[1]
