Audrey Allnutt was born in New Zealand in 1910. She worked in Australia during the 1920s with Osrey Pottery, and studied at the Ballarat School of Mines Technical Art School under Thomas Trengrove, and later Neville Mirvane Bunning.

Audrey Allnut died in New Zealand in 1996.
