History

Adam Smith was born about 1825 in Melrose (Roxburgh, Scotland) to Thomas Smith (1785-1857) and Jean nee Turnbull.


Adam Smith was co-proprietor of a timber yard and Ballarat Saw Mills, with his brother James Smith (c1831-1877).


Adam Smith was a shareholder and director of the Phoenix Foundry.


Adam Smith died 10 September 1888 at 36 Albert Street, Windsor (Victoria, Australia). He is buried in the St Kilda Cemetery.
