Alfred Calvert, with several companions, visited the Bunch of Grapes Hotel, Ballarat South, on the night of 23rd October, and behaved in an offensive manner. When the licensee, Mr. W. Rees, objected, Calvert defied anyone to "shift" him. Later on defendant and his companions discharged fireworks in one of the rooms of the hotel. Mr. Rees, on entering the room, found Calvert pouring beer over a dress belonging to Mrs. Rees. He remonstrated with Calvert, and the latter, using vile language, threatened to "knock his head off". Calvert was charged in the city court on Thursday with offensive behavior, and was fined £5, in default one month's imprisonment[9]

Kate O’Kane, the licensee of the Bunch of Grapes Hotel, Pleasant street south, was charged with supplying beer in a bottle not properly corked, and sealed to a person under the age of l6[10]

In the city court on Tuesday William Reece, licensee of the Bunch of Grapes Hotel, was fined £5 on a charge of having the bar door open during prohibited hours[11]

At a sitting of the Licensing Court to day the following, among other transfers of licenses were sanctioned:-Bunch of Grapes Hotel Ballarat, Thos. W. Redmond to. E. C. Spamgler[12]

Ellen Mccausland licensee of the Bunch of Grapes Hotel was fined £2 at the City Court on Friday for having traded after hours and £2 tor having permitted unauthorised persons to be on the premises[13]

Ellen McCausland, licensee of the Bunch of Grapes Hotel, Pleasant-street South, was fined £2 in the .city court on Tuesday for unlawful disposal of liquor on the night of July 6. Three men were each fined £1 for being on the premises.[14]
