Site
Corner of Sturt Street and Lydiard Streets (later the site of Allens Jewellers). In the 19th century Marks had a single storey shop which was demolished c1901 to build the multistorey building still standing.[2] This corner is still known as Mark's Corner.

LLWhilst waiting for their fine now shop at Cobb’s Corner to be built, Messrs Marks and Co. are established in premium further up Sturt street, where they have a very fine display of jewellery of every description. The window show is only an index to what, is to be seen in the show cases inside. The firm have a high reputation for keeping only the best of everything, and the prices are still within the range of all purses. The firm invite a visit from those desirous of obtaining Christmas and New Year gifts for their friends.[3]
