The Crown Hotel is a hotel in Buninyong, Victoria, <1857-2015>

Background

This hotel was established by George Selleck following the discovery of Gold in 1851[1], and it first known (or alternatively known) as Selleck's Hotel.

History

The Crown Hotel was described as the Crown Inn in 1952.[2]The building was burnt to the ground on 31 December 1884, and the double stored building was built the year after. Extensive renovations were undertaken in 1994.[3]

Site

The Crown Hotel is in on the corner of Warrenheip Street and Learmonth Street,Buninyong.[4]

Innovations

In 1917 the hotel was issued with a special permit to serve alcohol with meals between 6.00pm and 8.00pm.[5]

Community Involvement

In September 1863, the hotel was the venue for a complimentary dinner for Mr. Archibald Fisken, J.P., to recognise his five years of service as the Chairman of the Buninyong Roads Board.[6]
