Obituary
- Another old colonist passed away yesterday, in the person of Mr David Mitchell, who died at his residence, corner of Lydiard and Macarthur streets, after a brief illness. The deceased gentleman was bom in Fifeshire, Scotland, and came out to Australia in 1852 by the ship Alberfoyle. He came to Ballarat, and took up land in the Windermere district, and was so successful that some years ago he retired, having invested his money in City property. He was an enthusiastic bowler, being one of the oldest members of the Ballarat Bowling Club, and was probably one of the most familiar figures on the green, at the Eastern Oval. He was also one of the oldest members of the Old Colonists’ Association. The deceased gentleman, who was 76 years of age at the family.[1]
