History

News and Notes.
An inquest was held at the Brunswick Hotel, on Wednesday, on the body of George Pearce, an iron founder employed at the Phoenix Foundry. From the evidence it appears that he had for some time been complaining of palpitation of the heart, and went to bed as usual on Tuesday night, and on his wife waking him in the morning, he suddenly stretched himself, groaned, and fell back dead. Dr Sutherland stated that the cause of death was syncope supervening disease of the heart of long standing. Verdict accordingly.[1]
