Background

Site

The Imperial Hotel is situated in Lyttleton Street opposite the town hall.

History

The Imperial Hotel is an historic building, classified "B" by the National Trust. Built by Mr Faulder Watson, there are extensive cellars, cast-iron lacework on the verandah and became popular for social events. The licence was surrendered in 1968, it then became tea rooms and tourist accommodation centre when it was bought by Mr C.S. Harrison. [1]
