In 1862 James Lamb was Secretary of the Koh-i-Noor Gold Mining Co.

Obituary
- The death has occurred at the age of 81 of Mr. James Lamb, a well-known Ballarat mining investor. Deceased was a native of Glasgow, and was one of the founders of Ballarat Stock Exchange, with which he had been connected for over 50 years. In the early days he held large interests in the Kohinoor, Band of Hope, Great Extended, Cosmopolitan, Sir William Don and other celebrated alluvial companies. He leaves a widow and family. The first meeting of the Stock Exchange on Monday was adjourned out of respect to Mr. Lamb's memory.[1]
