THE SUICIDE AT BALLARAT. The inquest upon the body of the young girl Lizzie Murphy, whose sad suicide by drowning at Lake Wendouree we (Ballarat Courier) narrated in our yesterday's issue, was held at the Parade hotel before Mr Thomson, coroner; Sub-inspector Parkinson appearing for the police. It appeared from the evidence that the unfortunate suicide, who was only fifteen years of age, gave birth to an Illegitimate child some six months since, when working at.the house of Mr Willian Pritcliard, a resident of Armstrong street.[1]

TUE BALLARAT SHOOTING SENSATION. BALLARAT, Tuesday. George Sara, the young man who "stuck up" the Parade Hotel on Monday evening, was presented at the City Court this morning, charged with maliciously shooting at Constable Nicholson with intent to do him grievous bodily harm. Accused, who looked pale, probably from the loss of blood from the wound inflicted on the left temple by the constable's baton, was remanded for a week.[2]

PARADE HOTEL. Evidence was also taken in regard to the Parade hotel. Wendouree. Mr J. B Pearson appeared for the owner (Ballarat Brewing Co.), and the licensee (Mrs Frances Curtain). The police stated that two hotels were sufficient for the locality.[3]

On 22 March 1915, the hotel was included on a list of hotels to be deprived of their licenses. This list was complied by the Licenses Reduction Board in Melbourne. The Ballarat West licensing district hearings on this list were to be held on 27 April.[4] The hotel was delicensed in November 1915, and the court paid £500 compensation.[5]
