Peter Connellan (1824-1888) was a publican in the Ballarat district, <1877-1885>.

History

Peter Connellan was born c.1824, son of Thomas Connellan and Bridget Griffin.[1]

Peter Connellan was the publican of the Bush Inn at Navigators, Victoria, from at least December 1877 to December 1885.[2][3][4][5]

He married Margaret Duggan. They had several children including:

  • Peter Connellan (1868-1869)[6]
  • Margaret Ellen Connellan (1871-1872)[7]
  • James Connellan (1875-1940)[8]
  • Francis Connellan (1879-1911)[9]

He died at Navigators in 1888.[1]

His wife, Margaret Connellan died on 2 April 1902:

The funeral of Mrs Margaret Connellan, relict of Mr Peter Connellan. of Navigators, and a resident of that place for 42 years, took place yesterday. The remains of the deceased were interred in the Ballaarat Old Cemetery. The funeral was very largely attended. Messrs M. M'Cormack, P. Sharkey, M. Gleeson, and G. J. Clark acted as coffin bearers; and the pall-bearers were Messrs A. W. Hager, 0. Hager, W. Cooper, P. Brosnan, J. Davis, P. Butler, P. Morris, and W. Kenna. The service at the grave was con ducted by the Bev. Father Kerrin. Mr Steve Wellington was the undertaker.[10]
