Background

Site

The Scottish Hotel was in Dana Street.[1]

"The south-west corner of Dana and Raglan streets has recently been built upon, and the hitherto vacant block now boasts a good looking two-storied brick building known as the Scottish Hotel."[2]

This suggests the building was erected in 1861 on a vacant site, but we know Jessie Craik held the publican's licence from 1859 for the Scottish Hotel in Dana Street.

There is now a modern brick veneer private residence on the site.
