Mr. Thomas Edwards, founder and proprietor of Pyrites Works at Ballarat and Bendigo, died at his residence, "Erindale" Ballarat, to-day. He was one of the pioneer mining men of the district. He invented an ore roasting, furnace which is largely used in Australia and elsewhere. He was a member of the Ballarat Old Colonists' Association, and director of several mining companies.
