A. H. King
History
King was born in 1827 at Moydalgan House, County Down, Ireland. He was a direct lineal descendant of the first Lord Baron of Ockham. In 1841 he moved to Victoria. In 1851 he became a miner in the Ballarat district for two years. In 1854 he commenced his business on 14 Bridge Street.
A. H. King was a gunsmith, iron merchant and furnishing and general ironmonger whose premises were located at 14 Bridge Street, Ballarat from 1857 to 1894.[1] He was also an agent for Wheeler & Wilson's sewing machines.[2]

King continued to reside in Ballarat until his death in 1885. He was the father of eleven children, and two of his sons, H.A. King and E.L. King took over the running of the family business.[6]
