History

Alan Robertson Scott was born at Ballarat, he was the son of J. W. Scott. He was a 24 year old single chemist's assistant when he enlisted for service during World War One on 19 August 1914. A member of the 2nd Lighthorse regiment, Alan Scott (487)

Alan Scott was educated at the Ballarat School of Mines. His father ran J.W. Scott, Dispensing Chemist, 415 Sturt Street, Ballarat

He saw service at Gallipoli and France. On 28 April 1918 Sergeant Alan Scott was wounded in action and died of head wounds in the field in France on 29 April 1918. He is buried at Arneke British Cemetery, 9 1/4 miles north of Hazelbruck.

Legacy

World War One service recognised on the Ballarat Avenue of Honour.
