Albert W. Steane
Albert W. Stean was born in 1877 in Bendigo.[1]
History
Albert W. Steane was the first Headmaster of the Ballarat Junior Technical School when it was opened in 1913. Previously he was head of East Ballarat Sloyd Centre, a non-government school.[2] In 1915-17 he was a member of the Ballarat Science and Field Naturalists Club.[3]
In 1930 Steane was Lecturer in Charge of Carpentry at the Ballarat Junior Technical School, a division of the Ballarat School of Mines.
Albert Steane retired from teaching in 1942 after 29 years as the Headmaster of the Ballarat Junior Technical School.
Albert and Grace Steane and their family lived at 105 Eyre Street, Ballarat.[4]
Grace Steane died on 18 February 1965, [5] and Albert Steane died on 13 July 1970, at Sydney, aged 92 years.
Legacy
Family
Albert Steane was the son of H.W. Steane. Albert married Grace Elliott Anderson in 1909. Their children are:
1. Harold Albert (M.Sc. Specializing in Metallurgy.[6] Settled in Canada in 1953[7], and eventually became a Canadian citizen)
2. Eric (b. Bendigo)[8]
3. Violet Grace (b. Bendigo. Married Mr Hayman[9]
