History
The Albion Foundry was situated in the area known as Ten-foot hill, Mr J.H. Horwood brought the foundry in 1868. [1]

The foundry carried out a variety of work but the foundry was particularly successful in manufacturing bells. In 1879 Mr Horwood cast the first bell to be successfully made in Victoria, which was for the Castlemaine Post Office, he also made bells for the Bendigo Post Office and won many prizes for his bells. In 1876, he also made a bell for Richmond which weighed 2268lbs. The foundry made many of the streets signs for Castlemaine and Bendigo. [2]
