Alexander Breen

History

Alexander Breen was born in Bowenvale and worked as a miner before enlisting at the age of 18 years and 2 months in Ararat 13 November 1914, service number 1400. He embarked Melbourne 22 December 1914, 16th Battaliion, served in France and Europe. He returned to Australia 6 September 1919, was discharged 3 November 1919, he was awarded then Victory Medal, British War Medal and 1914/1915 Star and Military Medal (awarded 6 October 1916. [1]

This person is listed on the Timor Primary School Honour Roll

Family

Mother Mary Breen died September 1917, sister Mrs Catherine Murley was next of kin, he also had a brother Jack Breen. [2]
