History
Alfred James Lipscombe Whiteley was an electrician before enlisting for World War One service at Melbourne in August 1916 aged 29. Reaching the rank of 2nd Air Mechanic, Alfred Whiteley (#772) served as a mechanic in France. [1]
Legacy
A tree was planted for Andrew James in the Ballarat Orphanage's Arthur Kenny Avenue of Honour.[2] His service is not commemorated in the Ballarat Avenue of Honour.
Family
Alfred J. Whiteley lived at the Ballarat Orphanage from 1894-1909.[3]
