Alfred J. Rowsell

History

Alfred John Rowsell was born at Ballarat[1] during the Battle of Broodseinde, Belgium.[2] and attended Urquhart Street State School.[3] His parents were Honor and John Rowsell of 513 Windemere Street, Ballarat south. At the time of his World War One enlistment on 26 January 1916 he was recorded as a single, 20 year old Brick layer. A member of the 8th Battalion, Alfred Rowsell was killed in action at Belgium on 04 October 1917[4] during the Battle of Broodseinde, Belgium.[5]

Legacy

The World War One service of Alfred John Rowsell is recognised on the Ballarat Avenue of Honour.
