History
Arthur Norman Tong was born in Ballarat, the son of David Tong.[1]
He enlisted for service during World War One as Robert Archer Bateson, which was later crossed out and his real name inserted. On 17 August 1916 he made a sworn declaration that his true name was Tong. On 17 August 1916 he was detached for duty with the ADBD with underaged personnel. On 12 September 1917 he was transferred from the 59th Battalion to the 1st Australian General Hospital (under age personnel).[2]
Legacy
World War One service recognised on the Ballarat Avenue of Honour.
