Arthur Wilfred Finlayson was born in Ballarat, the brother of T. Claude Finlayson.[1]
Arthur Finlayson enlisted during World War One from Ballarat becoming a member of the 8th Battalion. In 1914, at the time of his enlistment he was 19 years and 8 months old. Arthur Finlayson landed at Gallipoli as a private (No 37) and left Gallipoli as sergeant. He was promoted to officer after officer training. Finlayson won the MC, was mentioned in Dispatches, and returned home.[2]
Legacy
World War One service recognised on the Ballarat Avenue of Honour.
