History

Site

The Ascot Hotel was at Ascot.[2] A City of Ballarat heritage paper had "Only ever home to one hotel, the remains of the stables are still recognisable".[3] However, the Creswick Licensing Court issued publican license to two hotels at Ascot in 1858, the Ascot Hotel and the Wheatsheaf Hotel.[4]

The Ascot Hotel is said to be in Daisy Hill Road.[4]

Community Involvement

In 1868 the hotel was one of the venues chosen by James McIntosh, President of the Shire of Learmonth for a meeting:

"...to take into consideration the desirability of PRESENTING the Hon. Mr GRANT, M.L.A., with a suitable TESTIMONIAL, as a small recognition of his long and valuable public services to the colony."[2]
