The Arthur Kenny Avenue of Honour was planted in honour of the 100 old boys of the Ballarat Orphanage who enlisted in World War One. It was opened by the Governor-General Sir Ronald Munro-Ferguson on 03 August 1917. The Avenue of Honour faded with time and fell into disrepair in the mid-1920s but was “re-discovered” and re-commemorated in November 2012. [1]. It was replanted in Fortune Street, and officially opened by Major Simine Wilkie AM. Alfred J. Denier and Richard H. T. Permewan were identified after the 2012 re-commemoration.
