Background
Ordinary traffic stared running on the Ballarat to Scarsdale Railway line on 01 August 1883 after being opened by Mr Watson, Engineer-in-Chief of the Victorian Railways. It was 13 miles 3 chains in length.The four sections of the line cost 25,779 pounds, 1 shilling, 5 pence, and are:
- Trunk Lead (aka Kopke)
- Haddon
- Smythesdale
- Scarsdale
Two stations were later added:
The Ballarat Skipton Railway Track is registered by Heritage Victoria.[2]
