Bernard Fennesy

History

Bernard John Fennessy (Service number 7617) was a shop assistant when he enlisted, aged 22 years, in the Australian Imperial Army on the 2nd August 1918. He He left Australia on the 3rd July 1916 and served in France in the 16/1st Light Horse Signal Troop, he was "Shell gassed" 30th October 1917. He returned to Australia, on the " Nestor" 20th May 1919.

He was awarded the Victory, British War and 1914/15 Star Medals, he passed away 2nd February 1960.
