Origin of the name
History
The Berry Deep Lead was overlaid with basalt by numerous volcanic cones in the area. The leads were first worked beneath basalt in 1854, but it was the discovery of the new leads nother of Spring Hill in 1977 that led to a period of great activity and interest. This system of leads are the best gold producing leads in Victoria and of world prominence.[1]
