Origin of the name
Bowenvale is a town located in the Central Goldfields Shire local government area of North Loddon, Victoria Bowenvale was named after Governor Bownen who was governor of Victoria from 1873 to 1879. Bowenvale had few people during the gold rushes, it established itself as an independent settlement with the increase in deep lead mining. [1]

Bowenvale was Shire of Tullaroop, which was created a district 18th January 1861, proclaimed a shire 24th January 1865, the Carisbrook Borough and the Majorca Borough united in 1915. [2]
