Charles Ballantine

History

Sapper Charles Ballantine, Service number 6003, he was a miner before he enlisted, his father was Robert Ballantine, Bowenvale. At the time of enlisting on 14 August 1915, he was 26 and 11 months old, he was appointed to the 3rd Reinforcements, 5th Field Coy Engineers. He also served with 12th Field Company Engineers, Australia Imperial Force. [1]

Charles embarked Australia 20 January 1916, disembarked Alexandria, 27 February 1916 and returned to Australia 12 May 1919 and was discharged 25 August 1919. He was awarded the 1914/15 Star medal, British War medal and the Victory medal[2]
