History

Charles Chown was born about 1850 in Monmouth (Wales) to Henry Charles Chown (c1821-1884) and Lydia Louisa nee Payne (c1823-1889).

Charles Chown was a fitter and turner who worked at the Phoenix Foundry from at least 1880 to 1883.

Charles Chown died 6 December 1923 in the Ballarat Hospital (Victoria, Australia). He is buried in the Ballaarat New Cemetery (Area Presbyterian A, Section 17, Grave 7).
