Charles Higgins was a baker at Yandoit in 1899. By 1903 his invoice states he is a baker and confectioner.[1]

Charles Higgins was born in 1868 at Clydesdale, Victoria. He was a Baker at Yandoit. He died in 1933 at Flinders, Victoria,

Legacy

Family

Charles Higgins was the son of John Henry Higgins and Sarah Martha Stocker. Charles married Clara Williams in 1898. She was born in 1871, the daughter of Henry Williams and Jane Clemo. She dies on 30 November, 1914. Charles remarried in 1923. His new bride was Annie Morgan. [2]

Glenlyon Shire Council - Yandoit: The Shire Engineer, S. Langley, reported having examined the damage at Yandoit State School, and recommended an earthenware pipe drain across the road from the sink in the school premises - Price estimated at £5. Also, he had inspected a timber bridge over the creek near F. Stewart's farm, he had found the bridge in a bad state, and had taken action accordingly.
The hon. secretary of the Water Reserve Yandoit, G. H. Bear, wrote informing council that a meeting had been held on January 5th and a committee of management was appointed for the water reserve. The trustees were appointed – Messrs C. Higgins, D.I. Gillies and R. Chapman. - Received; action to be taken to have trustees gazetted.
