History
Clarence William Smith served with the 7th Battalion during World War One. He saw action at Gallipoli,in Egypt and on the Somme. Smith was repatriated to Australia with 'defective vision', arriving at Melbourne on the 15th of February 1919.
Legacy
The World War One service of Clarence Smith is recognised on the Ballarat Avenue of Honour. The tree was planted by Hilda Smith.
Family
Clarence Smith was married to Hilda. They had the following children:
1. Clarence William Smith (Jnr)
2. Hillary Smith
