History

Duncan McKellar Robertson was born in Ballarat and educated at Dana Street State School. He enlisted in Ballarat on 08 July 1915 as a 19 year old, unmarried labourer (SN 3433). He was posted to the 6th Infantry Battalion and embarked for active service in October on board the Nestor. He arrived in France the following March but spent much of the remainder of 1916 in hospital with cellulitis which eventually resulted in his evacuation to England. He eventually rejoined his unit in June 1917 but was killed in action at Passchendaele on 20 September 1917. Legacy

The World War One service of Duncan Robertson is recognised on the Ballarat Avenue of Honour.
