History

The hotel was one of the hotels reviewed at the Licensing Court 1888 hearings.

  • In January 1917 In the Ballarat East court on Thursday Thomas Ryan, licensee of Eastern Station Hotel, Ballarat East, was fined £2 on a charge of trading during prohibited hours. Two men found in the hotel without lawful excuse were each fined £1[2]
  • In May 1922 Sarah Ryan, wife of the licensee of the Eastern Station Hotel, appeared at the Ballarat City Court today, and was committed for trail at the General Sessions on May 23, on a charge of having stolen a quantity of flannel valued at £2/8/-. Detective Olholm, of the Railway Department, prosecuted, and Mr F. D. Mann appeared for Ryan. Evidence was given that a parcel of flannel, consigned to Mr Taylor, at Beaufort, and placed in the van of the 5.40 a.m. train on April 7, did not reach its destination. The parcel was subsequently found in Ryan's room. Ryan told the detectives that she had bought the flannel from a traveller who was a regular caller[3]
  • In July 1929 In the city court on Thursday Frank Fiscalini, licensee of the Eastern Station Hotel, was fined £3 for allowing persons on the premises on 7th June during prohibited hours.[4]
  • In May 1930 Catherine Fiscalini, licensee of the Eastern Station Hotel, was fined £2 pounds for having had persons on the premises on Sunday, April 20.[5]
