Edward C. Doepel
Edmond Christian Doepel was born in Ballarat in 1957, the son of Fred Doepel.[1]
History
During World War One Edmond Doepel (10206) served with the 2nd Field Ambulance. In 1969, Doepel entered the firm of Smith Wynne & Morrison's mining office. For 26 years, Doepel worked with John Randle Pascoe (1835-1881) and accountants Cuthbert, Wynne, Morrow and Must. From 1904 until at least 1916, Doepel was a member of the firm Doepel and Chandler (house, land, commission and insurance agents).[2]
Member of Yarrowee Masonic Lodge, Mark Lodge and Royal Arch Chapter. President of the Mechanics Institute in 1911, foundation member of Liedertafel, member of the Ballarat Hospital committee and honorable treasurer of the Queen Carnival for the Red Cross in 1916.[3] In 1916, Doepel was also a member of the Ballarat Science and Field Naturalists Club.[4]
Legacy
World War One service recognised on the Ballarat Avenue of Honour.
Edmond C Doepel's name is listed in the Ballarat School of Mines Honor Roll.[5]
