Commonly known as Louden Blomeley.


History

Edward Louden Blomeley was born 1887 in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia to George Blomeley (1851-1898) and Janet nee Smith (?-1937).

He served during World War One with the 59th Battalion joining up at 28 years of age on 10 March 1916. At the time of his enlistment he was an iron founder, and had defective teeth. His next of kin was his mother, Janey Blomeley of 604 Windermere Street, Ballarat.[1]

In 1919 his medical report on an invalid stated that his right index finger was amputated due to a gun shot wound in France in July 1916. He died o n29 October 1919 at the 11th Australian General Hospital [2]

Edward Louden Blomeley died of Cerebellar tumor and exhaustion on 29 October 1919 at the 11th Australian General Hospital, Caulfield, Victoria, Australia.[3]

Legacy

World War One service recognised on the Ballarat Avenue of Honour.


Edward L. Blomeley's name is listed in the Ballarat School of Mines Honor Roll.[4]
