Ernek Janssen
History
Ernek Valdemar Janssen was born at Ballarat in February 1891, his father was Inuk J Janssen. He enlisted for service during World War One at Prahran and was given the Service Number 359. He died at Cape Helles on the Gallipoli Peninsular sometime between 06 May 1915 and 12 May 1915.[1]
Ernek and his brother C.W. Janssen were together when they landed at ANZAC on 25 April 1915. C. Janssen was hit with schrapnel and killed just as he was landing on the beach. He was buried at sea. Ernek Janssen was kiled later the same day in the advanced on the right.[2]
Legacy
World War One service recognised on the Ballarat Avenue of Honour, and the Magpie State School Honour Roll.
