Ernest Powell

History

Ernest Powell was a miner before he enlisted in the Australian Imperial Forces, 15th Battalion on 20th September 1914, aged 27 years and 10 months, service number 1224, 15th Battalion 4th Infantry Brigade. Embarked 17th Infantry Battalion, HMAT Ceramic, Melbourne Wounded 5th May 1915 and was admitted to Manchester Hospital, he returned to Australia via Plymouth, 8th October 1915, was discharged 4th July 1916.

Ernest Powell passed away 17th June 1937 at Bowenvale. He received the Star Medal, British War Medal and the Victory Medal.
