Ernest Tangey
History
Earnest Walter Tangey, was a rubber worker before he enlisted 10th July 1915, service number 2422, private, 21st Australian Infantry Battalion, Service Australian Imperial Force. First World War, 1914-1918. He embarked at Melbourne per H.M.A.T OESTERLY on 7th October 1915
He was killed in action on 29 July 1916 in France at the age of 22. He was awarded the British War Medal, 1914/1915 Star and the Victory Medal. A Memorial Plaque and Scroll were presented to his Father. [1]

Family
Father John Tangey, Bowenvale, Victoria
Earnest Tangey was born to John Morgan and Ellen Loddon Wilkinson in the Timor Central Goldfields shire.
He had five brothers: Archibald (who also served), William, Albert, Charles and Wilfred
He had three sisters: Ada Orestle, Lilly and Daisy
His father had married Clara Howarth before Ellen Wilkinson and they had four daughters, (Archibald's half sisters): Kate, Susan, Alice, Clara and one son (Archibald's half brother), Thomas
Clara died in 1875 and John, his father then married Elizabeth, his mother in 1879. [2]

Ernie Tangey fell in the fighting at Pozieries. [3]
He is buried in Pozieres British Cemetery Ovillers-La Boisselle, Pozieres, Picardie, France, Plot 1, Row G, Grave 46. [4]
