The Farmers' Arms was a hotel in Smeaton, Victoria, <1861-1863>.

Background

History

The hotel was offered for sale in October 1863:

THE FARMERS' ARMS. Situated at the junction of the Castlemaine and Newstead roads, in the township of Smeaton, and immediately opposite the Reserve for Government buildings together with 24 acres (in all) of fine agricultural land, the whole of which is at present let at a low but remunerative rental; the situation being, in fact, the choicest corner in this rising township, commanding the whole of the traffic of the district, and the extensive frontage to the road presenting the pleasing probability that in a few years the sale of building frontages will realise a fortune to the favored proprietor.[1]

Site

The Farmers' Arms was in Smeaton[2], at the junction of the Castlemaine and Newstead rods.[1].
