FALLEN AND WOUNDED.
Private' F. O'CALLAGHAN:— Word was received in Ballarat yesterday that Private Frank O'Callaghin, son of Mr T. O'Callaghan, formerly of the Cattle Yards hotel, Alfredton, was killed in action in France on 29th September.[1]


The Catholic Young Men's Society met on Tuesday evenng, in St. Patrick's Hall, the president (Mr J. A. Hart) occupying the chair. Messrs Parkinson, Goodie and Fiscalini were elected to membership. Four nominations were received. It was decided that a letter of condolence be sent to the parents of the late Pte. Frank O'Callaghan. M.M., who was recently killed in action in France. The spiritual director and many older members of the socicty referred with regret to the death of this soldier member, who had not only been an active worker in the society but had furtiher distinguished himself by gaining the Military, Medal on the field of battle. Out of respect for the deceased member the meeting adjourned for five minutes.[2]
