Frederick Young

History

Frederick Young - According to his Ballaarat Old Cemetery headstone he was the first Mayor of Ballarat East.

Frederick Young of Golden Point. The first mayor of Ballarat East who died on the 3rd September 1868, aged 57 years.

His remains lie beneath this stone. He was one of the earliest residents. One of the Municipal fathers of the District and a much esteemed and useful citizen. Also Ellen Frances, his widow, who died on the 25th Jan 1872 aged 62 years.
