History

Dr George Clendinning was graduated from Dublin in 1832. He practiced in London and Ireland before travelling to Victoria in 1852. He acted at the doctor at the Ballarat Camp for some montjs, and was registered in Victoria in February 1853. O=In that year he had a pracctise at Red Hill.

Dr Clendinning was elected to the first Ballarat East Council on 1 June 1857 and was Chairman in 1860 and Mayor in 1865.[1] He was a member of the provisional committee of the Ballarat Gas Company which was formed after a meeting on 02 June 1857.

Dr Clendinning died on 15 March 1876.

Family

Dr George Clendinning married Martha Holmes.
