George Threlfall (1819-1897)
History
George Threlfall was born 1819 in Lancashire (England) to William Threlfall (c1790-?) and Catherine nee Pollett (c1790-?).
An enginesmith trained in Blackburn (Lancashire, England)[1], together with William Henry Shaw (1830-1896), Robert Holden (c1831-1911) and Richard Carter (c1814-1883) George Threlfall established the Phoenix Foundry in Ballarat.
George Threlfall died 8 April 1897 in his home "Hopkins House", Ballangeich Station (Victoria, Australia).
- THRELFALL.-On the 8th April, at his residence, Hopkins-house Ballangeich, George Threlfall, aged 78 years.[2]
