"Private George Walker, eldest son of Mr F. W. Walker, of 405 South street, was killed in action on 11th April, 1917. Previously he had been reported missing. The deceased left with the 13th and 14th Reinforcements on the 29th December, 1915, for Egypt and then to France. He was a miner by occupation, and 31 years of age. Pte. Walker was a native of Ballarat, and was educated at the Dana Street School."[1]
Legacy
George Walker (4322) serced during World War One. His service is recognised on the Ballarat Avenue of Honour, and the Ballarat Yacht Club Honor Roll.
