Gregor Robertson

History

Gregor Gordon Robertson was the son of Eliza Robertson She moved to Ballarat Fter the death of her husband. In July 1915 The 21year old Gregor joined the AIF as a lieutenant.He arrived in Egyptin December, aether evacuees from Gallioli were arriving. In February 1916 he was promoted to Captain, arriving in France on23 June to serve as acompany commander with the 31st Battalion. Four weeks later he was reported missing at Fromeles. His death was confirmed in October. His remains were recovered and identified before burial at Tyne Cot Cemetery in Belgium.

Legacy

World War One service recognised on the Ballarat Avenue of Honour and the Ballan War Memorial.
